How is BGFS Different?
At Black Girl Film School (BGFS), we’re future-driven. Our mission is to provide online film production and digital literacy programs for girls interested in pursuing a career path in television, film, animation, and digital media. Our immersive 12-week courses are designed to be a fun and engaging way to help girls in underserved communities learn skills they need to apply to college and pursue a career path in this field. To date, we have an 86% completion rate for girls accepted into our Film Foundations program.
Black Girl Film School can reshape the way girls think about learning STEAM-related topics using Film/TV/Media industries techniques. These techniques require the mastery of math, technology, and engineering skills. BGFS can create a real impact, improving the percentage of women of color that are inclined toward advanced math, technology, and reading prior to entering college, preparing them for dynamic careers throughout the industry post graduation. In turn, this creates a pipeline of education, training, and mentoring opportunities for students over the span of the next decade.
